PRODUCT AND TECHNOLOGY NEWS

[1] ColorSync Will Ship With Microsoft Internet Explorer

Apple just announced that its ColorSync color-management technology will be integrated into a future version of Microsoft Internet Explorer for Mac OS. Integrating ColorSync APIs (application programming interfaces) into Microsoft's web browser will provide Internet users with a more reliable and accurate representation of color on the web. This integration means that users will no longer need to install browser plug-ins to trust color on the Internet. By extending color management to the web, the market for ColorSync-enabled applications is likely to expand and create new business opportunities for content creation professionals. The technology will allow for the creation of new Web Commerce sites, where the customer perception of color is a critical sales tool.

[7] Monthly Software Club Looking for Mac OS Software

Softdisk Publishing has been publishing software monthly since 1981, and the company is currently looking to license Mac OS-compatible programs from developers. Softdisk offer a flat licensing fee for the rights to include programs on its monthly CD and offer quarterly royalties (typically 20 percent) for download sales through Softdisk's Online Superstores. Interested developers should send submissions to submissions@softdisk.com. Softdisk typically reviews each submitted program; then, if the product meets the company's needs, Softdisk negotiates purchase or publication fees individually with each developer.
